Art Classes
My passion is painting - and I also love sharing my knowledge and experience gleaned over the last thirty years. I started by teaching children aged six through to thirteen, in my studio at home over 15 years ago, and I derived huge satisfaction from encouraging them. The smiles of the children when they surveyed their handywork was infectious. I am proud to report that a number of my students have gained scholarships to senior schools, and a handful of my former pupils are now making art their career. Following on from this I was encouraged to start adult groups and these have varied from intense drawing boot camps to weekly/monthly painting sessions.
Landscape Painting with Kate in JUNE 2023 - availability
A new three day course, Wednesday 7th, Thursday 8th and Friday 9th June in Clare, Suffolk.
We will primarily be painting outside, on the banks of the River Stour as well enjoying the views across the Suffolk countryside from the vantage point of the castle ruins. Additionally we have a large light space to work in in the heart of the subject which is such a bonus as all weather covered! We will get to know our landscape making preliminary studies, thinking about composition and colour mixing and then enjoy painting the variety of subjects with confidence. The principles that we will look at are relevant whether you are interested in realism or a more abstract approach to painting the landscape. Wednesday and Thursday we will run from 10 am - 4pm and Friday we will work until lunchtime, circa 1 pm. You can paint in your favourite medium and I will provide a list of materials that I think you will need. This course is suitable for mixed abilities but not for complete beginners who haven't painted before. You will need to bring a packed lunch, I will provide coffee and teas. The cost of the course is £280.
