If you are interested in developing your drawing and painting skills, I run adult courses, where enthusiasm is the only entry requirement.

To join one of these forthcoming painting courses or purchase it as a gift, please do get in touch and I can send you a booking form or likewise if you would like information about futures courses or if the course you are interested in has sold out let me know so I can add you to my mailing list.

TWO DAY Introduction to painting with acrylics. Monday 6th and Tuesday 7th March 2022 - 9.45 am - 4-pm, held in a beautifully converted barn in Great Bradley, just south of Newmarket, CB8 9LU.

This is an intensive two days on painting with acrylics. Ideal for someone who has limited painting experience or would call themselves a beginner.  If you have been on my Drawing Bootcamp it will be a particularly easy transition into paint. You will learn different ways to start a painting and how to translate with paint what you can see. We will use simple still life as our starting point and learn how to look with an artist's eye so that on the first day we can feel confident about painting simple tonal compositions with a limited colour palette. The second day we will take a deep dive into colour and the sheer joy of mixing colours. Whether we want to use quiet subtle colours or bright bold hues,  we will understand how we can make them work so that they harmonise and bring a painting to life. I used to think that a sense of colour was intuitive but there is so much that can be taught and you will learn it here. Once you know these things, that some artists take years to learn, your work will instantly work so much better.

The course is held in a light, airy barn that is ideal for painting and learning.  Basic materials, including all paint and paper, are included in the price but you will be sent a link as you will need your own brushes and one or two helpful things.

A simple but tasty lunch of soup, cheese and fruit etc is also included in the day, along with teas and coffee so really you only need to bring yourself, an apron and a sense of adventure.

The price for the two day course is £280.   SOLD OUT.

TWO DAY - Paint, Colour and Composition Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th March 2022 - 9.45 - 4pm,  held in a beautifully converted barn in Great Bradley, just south of Newmarket, CB8 9LU.

This course is suitable for all levels and as a follow on course for those who have done the Introduction to paint course. It is a chance to have two fully immersive days working from rich colourful still life to work on basic painting skills, improve colour mixing, seeing tone in colour, experiment with mark making and paint applications, and all the time strengthen your understanding of what makes a strong composition.

THREE DAY Find your freedom and loose any fear.  Wednesday 22nd - Friday 24th February, 9.45 am - 4pm, held in a beautifully converted barn in Great Bradley, just south of Newmarket, CB8 9LU.

Do you, or did you, enjoy painting but are ready to push yourself in different directions?  This will be a great course to give you courage to take risks and experiment with different approaches to painting. For those that haven’t done it with me before I will also cover the magic of good colour mixing.

This course is aimed at people who have some painting experience in that it is not a straightforward “how to paint what you see” class as the exercises are more to encourage you to be brave with your paints. It is possible to book on the course with little experience as long as you are aware of that approach. We will have three intensive days of pushing yourself and your art in a more experimental direction so although we will work with still life as a starting point, you will also work on and develop your own subject. We are going to look at how to shake things up a bit if you want to be less representational. I am ambitious for you to discover what is important for you in your painting as I will encourage you to reflect on what you enjoy in your own work and in others that inspire you.

You will be asked to do some preparatory work prior to the course to gain maximum benefit during the classes. Paper, paints  and drawing materials will be supplied but you will be sent a list of of a few items of equipment and materials such as your own brushes.

A simple but tasty lunch of soup, cheese and fruit etc is also included in the day, along with teas and coffee so you only need to come with suitable clothes and a sense of adventure.

The price for the three days is £380.  SOLD OUT

If you have any questions or are undecided as to which course you are most suited to, please feel free to email me on katesporborg@gmail.com or telephone me on + 44 7966 656706.
