THREE DAY - FIND YOUR FREEDOM and your artistic voice .
Tuesday 30th and Wednesday 31st January and Thursday 1st February 2024
9.45 am - 4pm, held in a beautifully converted barn in Great Bradley, just south of Newmarket, CB8 9LU.
Do enjoy painting but are feeling stuck - or are you ready to push yourself in different directions but not sure where or how? This will be a great course for those with some experience seeking fresh perspectives, encouragement, and direction. Discover the joy of self-expression, explore new techniques, loosen up, and develop your unique artistic voice.This is not a “how to paint what you see” class as the exercises are more to encourage you to be brave with your paints. It is possible to book on the course with little experience as long as you are aware of that approach. We will have three intensive days of pushing yourself and your art in a more experimental direction, I set the agenda with painting excercises on the first day but the aim is for you to work on and develop your own subject. I am ambitious for you to discover what is important for you in your painting as I will encourage you to reflect on what you enjoy in your own work and in others that inspire you.
This is limited to a very small number so that you have from lots of space and time for personal mentoring from me but with the added benefit of being with a group of supportive creatives.
You will be asked to do some preparatory work prior to the course to gain maximum benefit during the classes. Paper, acrylic paints and drawing materials will be supplied but you will be sent a list of of a few items that you will need such as your own brushes.
A simple but tasty lunch of soup, cheese and fruit etc is also included in the day, along with teas and coffee so you only need to come with suitable clothes and a sense of adventure.
The price for the three days is £380. If you wish to work with oils on day two and three, this is possible but please bring your own, and work with Zest or a low odour medium. Any queries please email or telephone me.

TWO DAY - Introduction to painting with acrylics.
Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th February 2024 -
9.45 am - 4-pm, held in a beautifully converted barn in Great Bradley, just south of Newmarket, CB8 9LU.
This is a full on two days to get you painting with acrylics. Ideal for someone who hasn't painted before. If you have been on my Drawing Bootcamp it will be a particularly easy transition into paint and if you haven't it you will be fine too as I have broken the mystery down to simple steps. You will learn different ways to start a painting and how to translate with paint what you can see. We will use simple still life as our starting point and learn how to look with an artist's eye so that on the first day we can feel confident about painting simple tonal compositions with a limited colour palette. The second day you will get an understanding of how colour works and the sheer joy of mixing colours. Whether you want to use quiet subtle colours or bright bold hues, you will understand how to make them work so that they harmonise and bring your painting to life. You will be amazed at what you can achieve.
The course is held in a light, airy barn that is ideal for painting and learning. Art materials, including all paint and paper, are included in the price but you will be sent a link as you will need your own brushes- the set costs about £12, and one or two helpful things.
The price fo the two day course is £290 - which includes; venue, tuition, homemade lunch both days, unlimited teas and coffees and all painting materials and equipment apart from some brushes. The only other thing you need to bring is an apron and a sense of adventure....
TWO DAY - Follow on and build Confidence.
Thursday 15th and Friday 16th February 2024
9.45 - 4pm , held in a beautifully converted barn in Great Bradley, just south of Newmarket. CB8 9LU.
If you have been on my Introduction course or have some previous experience, be it limited, that is great. It will be two days of painting with acrylics, developing your current skill level and building up your confidence. Concentrating on creating strong compositions, mixing beautiful colours and exploring interesting textures we will use still life as our inspiration to get you painting freely.
The course is held in a light, airy barn that is ideal for painting and learning. Basic materials, including all paint and paper, are included in the price but you will be sent a link as you will need your own brushes and one or two helpful things.
